Renovation & Extension, Under Construction
Richardson reworks an existing home on a sloping bush block, opening the interior to landscape and redefining how the home connects to its pool and outdoor living areas.
The design centres around a modern, open-plan kitchen, living, and entertaining space created by removing load-bearing internal brick walls and introducing significant structural steel to achieve an uninterrupted eight-metre span. This structural intervention reshapes the entire footprint without expanding unnecessarily.
New aluminium windows and sliding doors are being installed throughout, alongside ironbark decking that extends living spaces outward and strengthens the relationship to the natural surrounds.
The site presented considerable constraints due to its gradient and bush setting, requiring early planning and careful sequencing to ensure construction could proceed with clarity and control.
As works continue, enlarged window openings are being carefully integrated to frame the surrounding landscape and maximise light — reinforcing the home’s connection to its setting.
